Biochemical cycles such as the cycling of carbon and nutrients are strongly affected by plant function. However, plant function is inherently dynamic in space and time and thus complicates our ability to study the effect of plant function on biochemical processes. To better map and understand the variability of plant function over space and time and how it affects processes such as carbon fixation and nutrient uptake, I am developing and using novel remote sensing tools and techniques.
